Do you feel a heaviness in the atmosphere?

Recently, I’ve had conversations that have touched on or revolved around the sense that a dark cloud is weighing many people down. The heaviness of this cloud is difficult to avoid and even harder to escape. 

For numerous people, emotions feel heavy. Situations feel heavy. Relationships feel heavy.

Life feels heavy.

I would like to share a prayer for those who are struggling with heaviness.

Prayer for When Life Feels Heavy

Dear LORD, I come to You in thankfulness for faithfully listening to our prayers and for having an incomparable concern for everything that is on our minds. 

I lift up all who feel a heaviness in their hearts – a heaviness that makes it difficult to stay hopeful and confident about the present and future. We are bombarded by loud voices, unsolicited opinions, and relentless negativity. Would You help us filter out extra noise and remove dark clouds and heavy weight?  I’m praying for the rest that Your Word promises – a rest that is tangible and frees us from this heaviness. 

LORD, please pour Your unsurpassed peace over us. You promise that although there will be trouble in this world, You have already overcome it. Reassure us that You see the whole picture and that You are weaving things together for our good. You hold the victory.

Your Love

LORD, please reveal how deep and real Your love is and then allow us to marvel in it. Also, fix our eyes on Your power and compassion. Please remind us that You are worthy of our trust, no matter what. When things don’t appear to be coming together, we ask You to strengthen our faith that You are working to bring resolution and that You always have our best interests at heart. Focus our minds on Your ability to bring light into even the darkest of moments. 

Also, LORD, would You help us remember the many times You have been faithful? Please help us recount how You have repeatedly come through, especially during the seasons that we couldn’t see a way out. 

Finally, please show up powerfully in our lives. Help us sense Your Presence above all else – above everything that distracts us and everything the enemy is attempting to turn into an obstacle. Remind us that You are not distant. Thank You for being eagerly and intimately involved in the details of our lives. In the midst of the chaos, You call to us. You draw us close and want us near. May Your Presence be undeniable and a constant comfort and calm to our souls.
