Before you scroll down to read scriptures from Ephesians 2 and the prayers based on those scriptures, here is a prayer for you:  Lord, I pray for the people who read these prayers and lift their spouses up in prayer. Touch their marriages, Lord. Reveal to them a way where they previously thought a way did not exist. Renew their hope in You and Your ability to strengthen their relationship. Give them a fresh perspective on how to celebrate You, celebrate each other, and celebrate the gift of marriage. In Your name, Amen.

Ephesians 2 – 1As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

4But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Dear Lord, thank You for rescuing my husband from sin, renewing him with Your love, and reviving Him with Your mercy. Place in him a sincere longing to display Your character to everyone he encounters. May he be sensitive to Your Holy Spirit’s voice. Teach him how to react and respond to others with Your grace and kindness. Bring his thoughts into alignment with Your prosperous plan for his life. May others see and hear You in his actions and words. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

10For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

12remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Dear Lord, I thank You for giving my husband talents and personality traits uniquely planned by You before he was even born. Give him a fresh vision as to how to develop those God-given gifts. Show him how to use them to display who You are to a world in dire need of Your love and truth. Help him to be forever grateful for the life-changing meaning of the cross and for the closeness all believers can share with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

17He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.19Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, 20built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.

Dear Lord, when my husband is feeling stressed or uneasy, please help him feel embraced by Your perfect peace. Assure him that You are beside him in every situation and that Your desire is for him to depend on You. May he confidently worship You as the cornerstone that joins all believers together. May he be grateful for the solid foundation of faith in his life. I pray he will obediently seek the wisdom and guidance of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
